    Do QR Codes Expire

By definition, an expired QR code means that the code is no longer active, and scanning it won’t redirect you to any active websites. To answer whether a QR code expires or not depends on the type of code you are using. QR Codes are of two types. One is Static, and the other is Dynamic. A Static QR Code is a permanent code that cannot be edited once created, while a Dynamic code can be edited several times. Whether these codes expire or not depends on various other factors.

    Do Static QR Codes Expire?

As mentioned, a Static QR code is permanent once you create it. You can’t make changes or edit the code once it has been created. Technically, this code doesn’t expire as long as the destination URL embedded in it remains active. Static QR codes can be scanned an infinite number of times, and the code won’t expire in any way.

However, there are certain limitations to Static QR Codes. Some of them are listed below.

    • If you wish to change the landing page embedded in the code, you can’t edit it. Rather, you must create a fresh QR Code incorporating the new website.
    • Another thing is that a Static QR code can be used only once.

Static QR never expires if its landing page remains active and error-free.

    Do Dynamic QR Codes Expire?

Since third-party subscription-based services create Dynamic QR codes, they expire once your subscription ends. This means that you need to continue the subscription for the QR code to remain active for a long time.

Now, you might wonder why you pay for a QR Code that can expire at any time. The reason they charge is for the services they offer, some of which are listed below.

    • A Dynamic QR Code can be edited without any restrictions. Unlike Static, the same QR code can be edited several times without creating a new one.
    • The landing page associated with the Dynamic QR code can be edited. This is quite useful as you don’t need to create a new code from scratch and share it from scratch.
    • Dynamic QR codes can be analyzed based on the number of visits, locations, etc. These data will help you improve your reach among the target audience.

Technically, a Dynamic QR never expires as long as your subscription remains active.

Can I Create a QR Code that Doesn’t Expire?

Yes. As mentioned, a QR code can expire only if the landing page expires (for Static QR) or the subscription becomes inactive (for Dynamic QR). If you take care of these things, your QR code will never expire.

Among the two types of QR Codes, a Dynamic QR code has an edge as it can be edited several times without expiration. To create a Dynamic QR Code,

    1. Login to your urlsrt.io account.

    2. If you don’t have one, create it immediately and sign in to your account.

Unlike several websites, URLSrt.io allows users to create Dynamic QR Codes for free.

    3. After this, click the Dashboard and go to the Menu provided to the left.

    4. In that, select QR Codes and tap on Create QR.

    6. After this, click on Generate QR.

Once generated, download the QR code as a PDF, PNG, or WEBP file and start using it.

After this, you can track the number of clicks, the location of the users, and options to edit the QR code from the Dashboard. In this way, you can create a QR Code that doesn’t expire, and you don’t even need to pay for our services.

    FAQ

    1. Can I reactivate an expired QR Code?

Yes. You can reactivate the Dynamic QR Code by renewing the subscription.

    2. Do Google QR Codes expire?

If the Google QR Code is Static, it won’t expire. However, if it is Dynamic, it will expire.

    3. Do Free QR Codes expire?

Some services that offer free QR Codes are unreliable and might not work. You can trust genuine services like urlsrt.io to create a free static or dynamic QR code.
